April 22 - Being Creative

We talked about what it means to be creative, then found lots of ways to express our creativity...

We had free Art time and came up with some amazing creations...

We were creative by making pictures with our snacks...

We had ribbons to help us dance creatively...

and all that creativity was fun, fun, fun!

American West Heritage Center - April 20th

We had a great time at the American West Heritage Center. The volunteers helped us to meet lots of baby animals.

The weather was beautiful, we had fun and learned a lot about the baby animals, and our families got to come along.

We learned about imaginations and creativity at Joy School.

They were able to dress up with different costumes and play with boxes. The boxes were the favorite and they spent a good part of an hour imagining with them.

We also took a trip the the moon, which seemed to be a big hit with the boys!

It's great to be different and unique

Our footprints are different sizes and so are we. It is great to be me!

I Think I Can

This week was all about trying new things. We read about the little engine that could and the kids were able to do new things and to cheer one another on. There was an obstacle course, ring toss, and bean bag toss to try.

They made puppets.

And they were able to peel carrots, cut apples, make their own sandwiches and pour their own milk! They loved using sharp objects and being able to pour their own milk. It was okay if messes were made because sometimes that happens when you try new things, but you shouldn't be afraid to try!

Feb. 23th & 25th Spontaneous Delight

This week we learned about Spontaneous Delight! The kids were able to a explore fun and imaginative ways to play with ordinary things. They also learned about SURPRISES and the joy they can bring to us and to others.

We blew bubbles with straws to see how big we could make them.

January 28 - Rules and Decisions

We talked about rules, and how they tell us what to do or not do. We also talked about how sometimes, there isn't a rule to tell us what to do so we get to make a decision...like what clothes to wear or which toys to play with.

The children practiced making decisions by making a snowman picture. How should the snowballs go? Which hat? Should I color a nose or glue one on?

They were also excited to practice decision making at snack time - cheese or crackers? Apples or bananas? Milk or juice? The great thing about making decisions if if you want to have a little of everything, you can!

We are still talking about goals this week.

Some goals just take time, like turning 6. And other goals take practice, like tying our shoes.--so we have to have patience. Some goals can be accomplished by working together, like our Christmas program.

We also learned "Going on a bear hunt" (because finding a bear isn't a very good goal). The kids loved it. We probably went on 10 bear hunts and they were still begging for more.

Nasch and Raegan set the goal to learn how to write their names.

Gideon and Aaron learned how to zip up their coats by themselves.

We are so glad to be going to Joy School again.

Nativity at the Nursing Home

The kids did such a great job with their play and their songs at the nursing home and the night of our party!
